Tip #9: The Age Factor

In this day and age, children are expected to grow up quickly, and to master skills often before they are developmentally ready

Tip #9: The Age Factor

Before assuming this is the problem for bed-wetting, consider your child's age. Children at the age of three are still trying to master the skill of holding their bladder, and even the age of five, it is not abnormal for a child to have an occasional accident. If your child is still frequenting wetting his or her bed after the age of five, then the problem is likely nocturnal enuresis and may continue for years.

Before you assume that your child has a problem, consider his or her age; if your child is young, it may take a few months or even a year to resolve the problem. Many children have accidents once in awhile until they are five, and sometimes even a bit older. Do not even worry about the possibility of bed-wetting becoming a real problem until your child is older than five. Bed-wetting can also run in families, so evaluate this aspect if your older child continuously wets the bed.
