The Soothing Power Of Music

As mentioned previously, music is one of the best ways to calm even the crankiest of babies

The Soothing Power Of Music

The use of gentle tones and rhythms can work wonders in soothing your baby as well as providing a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere in your home. Playing the same song or collection each day can also give your baby a sense of calming predictability.

Although babies tend to enjoy classical, lullabies, and nature sounds, there is no rule that these are the only genres of music “suitable” for your baby. Your own music collection will likely yield some great tunes for you and your baby to enjoy together. Try playing a wide variety to find out what your baby likes best; if your baby lights up to the sounds of 80s pop or African percussion samples, then stick to what works. Clap your hands and your baby's to introduce a sense of rhythm, and make it a fun, exciting experience.

While your own music collection is surely suitable, there is also a massive selection of baby lullabies and songs sold on the market to choose from. Any music options are good; try using slower beats at bedtime for soothing purposes.

In addition to calming your baby, music is also great for stimulating your baby's cognitive skills, nurturing an appreciation for music, and can be a valuable stress-relieving tool for other family members as well.
