You can use balloons of any size, but kids usually enjoy the pop from larger balloons. Simply cut out some small slips of paper. On each slip of paper write a word that is a positive trait or thought. Some of these words might include kindness, sharing, thoughtfulness, honesty, truth, helpful, considerate, caring, dedicated, devotion, gentle, mercy, and faithful. Be sure though to include the word “blessing” in at least half the balloons. Tuck one of the slips into each balloon and then inflate the balloon and tie it. Make sure to have twice as many balloons as you do guests. You can easily store them inside a clean trashcan liner until you need them.
When it's time to play this birthday game for kids, have all the guests seated in a circle and empty the balloons in the middle of the circle. The idea of the game is to pop as many balloons as possible by sitting on them and retrieving the slips of paper inside each. When all the balloons have been popped, each child must share something about the words written on his/her slips of paper. The winner of this birthday game for kids is the child whose balloons contained the fewest slips of paper with the word “blessing” in them. Not a bad way to teach the importance of counting our blessings from this birthday game for kids.
Be creative when you're trying to generate ideas for birthday games for kids. Children need to be able to have fun without always fixating on winning a prize. The New Age Treasure Hunt helps teach children that the real treasure lies within each of us while Balloon Blessings helps increase their awareness of their own personal blessings. These kinds of birthday games for kids will allow the guests to leave with something more than a trinket that will be forgotten before they are invited to the next birthday party.
