Kid Party Games: Guess Who Came To My Party

The only thing kids enjoy more than having a party is being invited to a party

Kid Party Games: Guess Who Came To My Party

It doesn't take rocket scientist to figure that out, but it can take a bit of work to come up with some new ideas for kid party games…ones that are a bit different that the traditional kinds of kid party games they play.

Playing “Guess Who Came To My Party” gives each child who is a guest the opportunity to be center stage for a bit. It provides a great opportunity for kids who may be a bit shy to shine some in the spotlight. This kid party game is entertaining for everyone…even parents will get a kick out of participating.

The idea is to select some famous or recognizable people or characters and think of something each has said or might would say. Write that statement along with the name of that person or character on a piece of paper and placing the names in a hat. During the party, let each child pull a piece of paper with a name on it. Each child gets the chance to imitate that person or character while the other children try to guess the identity of the person or character.

You can customize this kid party game so that it is age-appropriate for the group of children. Make sure to select people and characters the children will have some familiarity. Five-year olds probably wouldn't recognize pop singers…you get the idea.

You'll need a few props for this neat kid party game, so here are some simple ideas, along with suggested identifying statements.

  1. Super Hero

Props - dish towel or Dad's shirt for a hero's cape

sleep mask for hiding the hero's true identify

Statement -- I'm here to save the day!

  1. Mail Carrier

Props - shoulder bag for holding letters

old envelopes for the mail

Statement -- I need you to sign for this please.

  1. Nurse

Props - white button-up shirt worn backwards for uniform

nursing cap made from blank white paper

Statement -- I think you have a fever.

While these examples are very basic, there are many others you can do with younger children. How about Uncle Sam, or some of their favorite cartoon characters? If you're having difficulty thinking of people or characters to use in this kid party game, try noticing the people and/or characters that really get your child's attention. Who does he know and recognize? If he can spot a fire truck ten blocks away, you can bet he and his friends can recognize a fireman and a policeman as well. If he likes to go with you when you're grocery shopping, you can bet he'll recognize a cashier. If you're really pressed to come up with some recognizable identities and characters for this kid party game, ask your child's preschool teacher who and what characters she's been reading about in his class. He and his little friends would be sure to have fun trying to guess whether the child with a pillow under his head was a sleeping princess or an old man who had been sleeping for a long time.

“Guess Who Came To My Party” is probably the one of the easiest and least expensive kid party games you'll ever offer your child and his friends. You can be sure that he and his friends will ask for this kid party game again, whether or not there's a party.
